Please reach us at tax@safe-compliant.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Clients who have had at least 24 invoices issued through our services within a financial year are eligible for a complimentary tax return. Qualifying drivers will typically be notified via email in May.
We recommend checking your inbox, including junk or spam folders, for this notification.
If you believe you meet the qualification criteria but have not received communication from us by the end of June, please reach out to us at tax@safe-compliant.com.
The tax draft we provided is based on the following assumptions: a tax code of 1257L (or S1257L in Scotland), that you have no other income apart from the invoices that we have raised and you have no expenses.
This could mean that your tax liability is wrong and you may need to advise us of other income during the financial year that we are unaware of, or supply us with legitimate business expenses to reduce your tax liability.
If any of this information needs to be updated, please notify us at tax@safe-compliant.com, and we will adjust your draft accordingly.
Once you are satisfied with the draft we have provided and have confirmed that it is ready for submission, we will proceed with submitting it on your behalf.
Please note that all tax returns must be filed with HMRC and any outstanding payments made by the 31st of January each year. To avoid any penalties or fines from HMRC, kindly ensure you notify us in a timely manner by emailing us at tax@safe-compliant.com
If you receive a fine from HMRC, the first step is to carefully review the notice to understand the reason for the penalty, such as late filing, late payment, or incorrect information. If you believe the fine has been issued in error, you may be able to appeal directly with HMRC. In such cases, it’s important to gather any relevant documentation to support your appeal.
If the fine is legitimate, it’s crucial to address the issue promptly to prevent further penalties or interest charges. If you require assistance with the process or believe there is an error in your tax submission, please contact us at tax@safe-compliant.com, and we will work with you to resolve the matter efficiently.
if you are a 2.0 courier driver, your expenses are limited as the vehicle & fuel is provided by the DSP you offer services to, and other related costs such as insurance are covered.
However, there are a number of allowable expenses that you can claim to reduce your tax liability. These typically include costs directly related to your work, such as work-related phone bills, protective clothing, footwear and whether you have paid any van rental or vehicle damage fees for the vehicle.
If you have any doubts about specific expenses or need further guidance on what can be claimed, please feel free to contact us at tax@safe-compliant.com, and we’ll help ensure you maximise your allowable deductions.
If you earned less than £1,000 in self-employed income during the tax year, you may be eligible for the HMRC trading allowance, which means you do not need to submit a tax return. To confirm this and ensure you're exempt from filing, you can contact HMRC directly at 0300 200 3310. It's important to have your National Insurance number and other relevant details ready when calling to verify your income status and avoid any unnecessary tax obligations.
If you don’t qualify for our free tax return service, you still have a few options. You can choose to work with a local accountant to assist with your tax filing, or if you feel confident, you can complete your tax return yourself through the HMRC online gateway. Alternatively, we offer a tax return completion service at a competitive fee, where we handle the entire process for you. If you're interested in this option, please contact us at tax@safe-compliant.com for more details.
